Mother.

This photo was taken during WWII by a German soldier.
I was really moved at how the mother is still protecting her child even though she knows what the outcome will be. That's love captured in a single image.
After getting permission from The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum to use the photo, this art piece was created. In this work I have tried to capture that single moment of love and darkness together.

This work is dedicated to my mum who isn't with me any longer. She would have done anything to protect her children regardless of the situation.
